The Youth Skills Connection program will expand an existing regional training consortia, the Hamilton Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Consortium (HSTAC), by recruiting additional employers, increasing the number of apprenticeship work term offerings, facilitating the expansion of the range of training offered through HSTAC, and promoting youth participation in skilled trades training.

Ontario's Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU) has funded CSTEC’s Pre-Apprenticeship project, that recruits unemployed and under-employed participants into the mechanical trades through a pre-apprenticeship program delivered by Mohawk College.

Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), this project will provide  50 unemployed post-secondary youth graduates with work experience in the manufacturing sector. Length of work will range from 3 to 12 months. CSTEC will work closely with the following organizations as sources of employment:
