Train for Your Next Industrial Career
Looking to move into a new industrial job or build on the skills you already have?

Industrial Skills Training helps eligible Ontario workers access occupational training connected to real employment opportunities in manufacturing, mining, transportation, resources and other industrial sectors.
CSTEC works with community colleges, trusted private career colleges and industrial training providers across Ontario. Eligible participants may have some or all of their training costs covered.
Training Opportunities
Training can include:
- Welding
- Mechanical Techniques and millwright pathways
- General Machining and CNC
- Industrial Maintenance
- Heavy Equipment
- Motive Power
- Underground Mining Common Core
- Other occupational training connected to industrial employment
Programs range from shorter skills training to longer occupational programs depending on your experience, career goals and the jobs available in your region
Who Is It For?
The program is primarily for Ontario workers who are:
- 18 years of age or older;
- legally entitled to work in Canada;
- laid off from manufacturing, industrial, mining, transportation, resource or related work; or
- unemployed or underemployed and have previous education or work experience in an industrial sector
This program is intended primarily for experienced workers rather than recent high-school graduates.
Help With the Cost of Training
Eligible participants may also qualify for assistance with costs required to participate in training, including transportation, childcare and personal protective equipment.
If you receive Employment Insurance, you may be able to continue receiving EI while participating in approved full-time training. This must be arranged before training starts.
Tell Us Where You Want to Go
You don’t need to know exactly which course you need.
Tell us about your work experience, the skills you already have and the type of industrial work you are interested in. CSTEC can help identify a training pathway that makes sense for you.
