Skills Advance Ontario
Already working in manufacturing, or recently laid off and interested in moving into an industrial trade?
Move From Manufacturing Into the Industrial Trades
Skills Advance Ontario helps manufacturing workers build the skills required for higher-skilled industrial careers. The program is designed around practical training that builds on the experience workers already have rather than assuming everyone needs to start from the beginning.

Industrial Training Pathways
Current pathways include:
- Welding Advancement and Requalification
- Welding Introduction for Skilled Entrants
- Applied Industrial Mechanic
- Applied Industrial Machinist
These programs are designed to help workers develop the technical skills required to move toward industrial trades and skilled manufacturing employment.
Who Is It For?
The program is intended for eligible Ontario workers who are:
- Working full time in manufacturing;
- Working less than 20 hours per week in manufacturing; or
- Laid off from manufacturing
Participants must be at least 18 years old and legally entitled to work in Canada.
